The skinny on Petfood
Were you aware that almost exactly what happened last year with Fonterra / San Lu, the baby milk powder contaminated with melamine occurred in 2007 in North America with Pet Foods. This time 17,000 pets were reported as ill with an estimated 20% dieing from acute renal failure. It resulted in the largest ever multi-million dollar pet food recall in history across the US in over 100 product lines.
Additionally, banned and potentially carcinogenic causing preservatives that would not be allowed in the human food industry can completely legally be included in our pets food - still.
Grains and low cost fillers that have more to do with economics than actual nutrition are primary ingredients in industry leading pet foods.
